USGS implemented a correction for the stray light in the TIRS telescope in Feb 2017. All products are being reprocessed to include this correction. Please see the calibration notice for details. Work is on-going to establish whether the correction is good enough to enable the use of split-window atmospheric correction methods. For the time being, it is recommended that you continue to use just Band 10.
Please email me if you have questions.

I have started screening for invalid email addresses. If I recieve a bounced email message from any address, I will add it to the list of invalid email addresses. Your query will not run once an invalid address has been added to the list. Please help keep the site running efficiently by using a valid address for every query request.

7-Jan-14
USGS has posted a notice about Landsat-8 reprocessing which will include a correction for the TIRS calibration error. Once the reprocessed data are available, the Landsat-8 Band 10 relative spectral response will be added to this tool for atmospheric correction. Until then, please continue to use caution when making use of TIRS data when absolute calibration is required.
Please email me if you have questions.

22-Aug-13
USGS has posted a notice about using Landsat-8 thermal data due to discrepancies between the instrument calibration and the vicarious calibration. Please use caution when making use of TIRS data when absolute calibration is required.
Please email me if you have questions.

There have been problems recently with the site being queried too rapidly, resulting in "Bad Descriptor" errors and users mistakenly sent the wrong results. If you are using an automated method to query the site, please don't send queries more frequently than every 30 seconds. I am not sure of how to correct the issue other than slowing queries down for now. Thanks for your cooperation.
Please email me if you see problems.

Due to increased traffic at this site, users were mistakenly viewing other users' results when clicking on the "Summary output file" and/or the "MODTRAN4.0 tp5 file". I've modified the linked files to have time stamp specific filenames rather than generic filenames, so each user should only see files that they generated. The files that were emailed should be unaffected, but please email me if you see problems.

16-Jan-11
The "profile only" option was disabled because the MODTRAN tp5 link was linking to a file that was not associated with the current atmospheric profile. This option was not intended to provide the tp5 file to users, so the link to the tp5 file has been removed. The option has since been re-enabled. Please email if you have questions.
29-Oct-09
An error was found that caused all results in the southern hemisphere to be incorrect. The error has been corrected and all southern hemisphere data should be re-run through this tool.
Please email if you have questions.
